Costello Landscaping were approached by HAFNEY to bid for a modest landscaping project to deliver a new amenity garden for the recently opened Maple Ward at Scarborough Hospital.
Working closely with Yorkshire Garden Design, Costello Landscaping assisted in developing a strong design concept that aimed to evoke the bygone spirit of energy and health that dominated Victorian Scarborough.
Taking the route along the garden as a 'journey' from the city to the seaside, a dual axis of Rowan Trees echo the rhythm of the stream engine. The destination point (station) is a purpose design and built pergola structure, with the recreated long green bench a part of the finished product.
The station faces the seaside beach garden, with gravel and special planting along with other seaside features, whilst heather surrounds the border recreating the idea of train smoke at the station.
The scheme was very well received and has also featured in the local press (Scarborough Evening News). The images on this page show briefly this fantastic design and new garden landscape.
